Nature Art

Nature and all it's beauty. These photos were taken around the Tahoe area. I find that spending time in nature cures all ailments.

Yosemite National Park

Chester poses for a picture in Yosemite. I decided that I had a little bit of time before heading back to Tahoe so I decided that I would spend a few hours in the park. The scenery is so beautiful, I just couldn't help myself. Large granite walls make up this park, and who could pass up a view of half dome?
Tuolume Meadows

The ever so popular site - Half Dome. In memory of Ansel Adams - this one was turned into a black and white.

Mono Lake area - girl fun

Sunset over Mono Lake
After a few days of being in Tahoe, it was time to head south to meet Anita for the hike listed below, and then to Thalia's house. Thalia was also a volunteer for me, and my old boss Robin met up at Thalia's for a lovely night of girl fun. Thalia lives in the Bodie hills just above Mono Lake. Mono Lake sits just east of Yosemite NP for reference. Staying at her house was like staying at a 5 star resort. The house overlooks the lake and the Eastern Sierra.

Lottie (left) and Chester having some dog fun. Lottie was named after a prostitute from the Bodie hey day.

Moon rise over the lake - this shot below was a long exposure of the moon sky which created some interesting affects.

Saddle Bag Lake Trail, Just outside Yosemite NP

Saddlebag Lake hike has to be one of the most spectacular hikes I have been on in a long time! This hike sits on the east side of Tuolumne Meadows in Yosemite National Park. They don't allow dogs on the trail in Yosemite so this was a better option for Chester and Miss Jilli. My friend Anita whom used to volunteer with the program I worked for Mammoth joined me for an awesome adventure. The hike ended up being about 8.5 miles round trip. We hiked around Saddlebag (above) lake and into the upper mountain basin to many other small lakes.
An upper lake where we had lunch. Anita attempted to catch us some dinner, but I think Chester scared all the fish away with his swimming. Below are scenes from the hike.

Chester waits for his stick to be thrown into the lake for a swim.

Lake Tahoe area, California

Jilli and my new pal Chester have had the pleasure to come with me on my mountain biking and hiking adventures around the Truckee and Lake Tahoe area. These two pictures were taken on a the trails. Jilli's picture was taken on a hike to view the lake. The one below was taken on trail near where my friends live that take you above the Truckee river valley seen in the background.

The next two pictures were taken from a hike up on the 5 Lakes trail. The trail starts near the Alpine Meadows ski resort and heads up and over the mountain to 5 lakes. I meandered around the lakes and onto the Pacific Crest Trail for a bit of exploration. Total miles ended up around 8-9. I came home after this one and crashed!

Beautiful Lake Tahoe.
